AI in Semble

This article explains what AI features are available, how they work, and how Semble has built them securely with healthcare in mind.

Semble is introducing AI-powered features to help your team work more efficiently. Rather than replacing clinical judgement or decision-making, AI in Semble focuses on the operational side — reducing the time your team spends navigating between screens, hunting for forms, and manually building reports.

What we're building and why

Your team knows what they need to do after every patient interaction — book a follow-up, send a referral, raise an invoice, order a test. The problem isn't knowing. It's the ten minutes of navigating between screens to actually do it.

We're building AI into Semble to close that gap. Instead of your team hunting through menus to find the right form, Semble starts surfacing what's relevant based on what they're already doing — so the next step is right there when they need it.

The AI doesn't make decisions for your team. It does the legwork like finding the right screen, pulling together the right data, connecting the dots between workflows. AI in Semble's product supports clinicians; it does not make decisions for them. Any feature that could affect patient care requires affirmative clinician action. AI will never independently diagnose, recommend treatment, or act on a clinical decision without a qualified clinician reviewing and approving it.

What's coming soon

We're starting with two capabilities, both currently in beta:

Smart navigation — When you're working on a task, Semble surfaces relevant links and shortcuts based on what you're doing. Instead of remembering which menu a form lives under, the things you're most likely to need next are already in front of you.

AI-assisted reporting — Describe the report you need in your own words — "show me all patients seen this month who haven't been invoiced" — and Semble helps you find the right data and build it. No need to know which fields live where or how to structure the query yourself.

Both are labelled as AI Beta in the product so you always know when you're using an AI-powered feature.

What AI in Semble doesn't do

It doesn't make clinical decisions. It doesn't interpret medical information or interact with clinical records. It focuses on the operational side — navigation, data retrieval, workflow shortcuts. Your team stays in control of every action.

It doesn't replace anyone. It handles the work nobody was hired to do — the searching, the switching between screens, the manual data assembly — so your team can focus on the work they were actually hired for.

How we've built AI into Semble securely

We've taken a foundations-first approach to AI, meaning we built the safety and security infrastructure before we built any features on top of it.

How we’ve built AI guardrails.

Every AI interaction runs through two layers of checks. Before processing, inputs are screened to ensure they're appropriate for the AI to handle. After processing, outputs pass through clinical safety rules that block things like diagnoses, prescribing suggestions, or anything the AI isn't qualified to provide — so what reaches you is always within safe boundaries.

Your team stays in control.

The AI suggests and surfaces information it doesn't act on its own. You are always the one confirming the action in Semble.

Built for healthcare.

This isn't a generic AI tool adapted for healthcare. The safety checks, data handling, and compliance requirements are built into the foundations of Semble, not added afterwards.

Not a medical device.

Our AI features focus on administrative and operational tasks such such as surfacing the right information at the right time to help reduce cognitive load via navigation, data retrieval, report building and more. The AI does not interpret clinical information, provide diagnoses, or recommend treatments. We may explore medical device certification in the future.

Your data and privacy

Patient data sits at the highest level of protection within Semble. We do not use patient data to train or fine-tune AI model. Ever. Our AI data governance framework ensures sensitive data is handled appropriately across every AI system we use or build.

Cost

AI features are included at no additional cost during this period. As we develop the offering further, we'll share any changes to pricing and packaging well in advance so you can understand what this means for your practice.

What's next?

We're actively developing more AI capabilities across Semble. We're not sharing a detailed feature roadmap because these features evolve based on real usage and feedback from practices like yours and we'd rather build something that's been refined by your workflows than something designed in isolation.

What we can tell you is the direction: AI in Semble will continue to focus on reducing cognitive load for your team by surfacing the right information at the right time, connecting workflows and removing repetitive manual tasks.
